foot reflexology

How does a session work?

The practitioner takes the time to talk to you, to explain what foot reflexology is, but above all to find out what you’re looking for. You then lie down on the massage table, leaving your feet slightly above the table. The foot reflexology session lasts about 45 minutes.

The reflexologist begins the session with a light, oil-based massage of your feet to relieve muscular tension. The reflexologist then uses his or her thumb to move back and forth to identify sensitive areas, which he or she then removes. If a reflex zone is painful, this indicates that the corresponding organ has been affected. The practitioner maintains constant pressure on the point, without pressing hard.

Here are some examples of zones to work on and their correspondences

  • Between the bones of the foot: areas corresponding to lymphatic circulation in the upper body.
  • Malleoli: areas around the hips, pelvis and organs.
  • Heel: coccyx area
  • Toes: areas for ears, teeth, eyes, brain…
  • Inner edge of the foot: spinal column zone
  • Under the soles of the feet: area of all organs; stomach, liver, thyroid, gall bladder…
