The Soulac-Royan flying club, for an aerial tour of the Médoc
Your vacation from the sky!
Just a stone’s throw from Euronat, the Soulac Flying Club welcomes you to the Runde aerodrome. The aeroclub is the union of two structures located on opposite sides of the estuary: Soulac-sur-Mer and Royan.
The two facilities bring together some 190 members, both experienced pilots and students. The Soulac Flying Club is open to all, all year round!
The club has five airplanes and one microlight. Volunteer and salaried instructors are at your disposal.
Baptism of the air
Baptism in the air is undoubtedly the best way to discover the Médoc. Between the Gironde Estuary and the Atlantic Ocean, you can see :
- the multitude of marshes,
- cereal crops
- human activities related to livestock farming
- the main tourist attractions of our beautiful region.
Of course, Euronat and its 335 hectares of unspoilt nature will be part of the trip. You’ll have a superb photographic souvenir of your vacation. The flight takes thirty minutes. Take-off and landing at Soulac/Mer airfield.
Introductory flight: Similar to a first flight, except for one detail… you fly!
The adventure begins with a technical briefing in the classroom (approx. 20 minutes), followed by a 30-minute flight with an instructor. Finally, you return to the classroom for the debriefing. A passenger of your choice can take the back seat during this flight. An unforgettable experience, and perhaps the beginning of a passion for flying….
The flying school
If you’d like to take the plunge and become a pilot, the club has five instructors at your disposal. Theoretical training (free of charge) and flights will help you realize your dream. Of course, this requires a certain level of assiduity. A real commitment is required. You’ll need to study the manual provided on a regular basis.
After passing an examination, you’ll be awarded your Private Pilot’s License (PPL). You’ll then be able to fly all over Europe, or more modestly, enjoy flying. In turn, you’ll be able to show your family and friends the beautiful countryside.
